At fifteen Elizabeth moved from the family farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to live and work at a doctor's residence in Philadelphia. She mastered many new recipes as taught by her mentor, Mrs. Strauss. It was here where her cooking style took on a gourmet flair. She also learned how to elegantly entertain and serve her dinner guests.

Elizabeth's family enjoyed decades of feasts from her vast repertoire of recipes. Who could forget her Feather Bed Rolls . . . so soft and slightly sweet? And luscious desserts like Butterscotch Pie, Brandied Peaches or Pull Apart Cake.
